		<description>Some people may benefit from running the marathon in lightweight training shoes vs. regular training shoes.  Whether you can do this or not depends on your bodyweight, your running biomechanics, and your injury history.  

If you weigh less than 175 lbs and are not injury-prone, you may be able to race in a lightweight training shoe.  If you are an overpronator and need a lot of support, this type of shoe may not be for you.  You should break in the shoe on some long runs before your marathon to make sure that it is comfortable and that you won&#039;t get any blisters.

Research indicates that saving 4 oz per shoe can help you cut your marathon time by 2-3 minutes.  

I run my marathons in an Asics Speedstar 3 shoe (~9 oz) and it has worked well for me.</description>
